LILIA KUSHNIR - BRANCH DIRECTOR

Having graduated from Denys Sichynsky State Music College in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, was a teacher of piano and accompanist at a children’s music school. Emigrated to the US in 1995, began teaching piano at the Holy Cross Church in
Astoria, NY. Joined UMI, NY in 2000, bringing a large number of students into the branch, and along with a large group of dedicated teachers actively worked to rejuvenate the branch. Served as Assistant Director in NY, in 2006 was elected Praesidium Secretary for UMI-A. Moving to New Jersey in 2008, created a new Whippany branch of UMI, teaching the children and continuing the proud tradition of the organization. Member of the Music Association of NJ (MEA) and the National Music Association of America, is currently pursuing a degree in elementary music education here in the US. Since 2010 teaches at the Rainone’s School of Music. In 2014 helped create a new branch in Yonkers, NY, and in 2016 started to organize a branch in Stamford, CT.
